STAFF and children at Greenmount Village Preschool are celebrating after receiving their latest Ofsted report.

The pre-school, in Brandlesholme Road, was rated as ‘good’, the second highest level awarded, after an inspector visited on January 14.

Inspector Savine Holgate highlighted how children were seen to be ‘happy, confident and settled’.

Mr Griffith, Greenmount Village Preschool Chair and also headteacher at Greenmount Primary School said: “The voluntary committee and pre-school staff are delighted with Ofsted’s recognition.

“Everyone works hard and is committed to providing excellent early years care.”

The Ofsted report states: “Relationships between children and staff are strong. Children are happy, confident and settled at the pre-school.

“Staff effectively support children's emotional wellbeing. They are warm, friendly and attentive to children and know them extremely well.

“Partnerships with parents are excellent. There is a shared approach to children’s learning and parents share children’s achievements from home and staff support home-learning in a range of ways.

“The manager and staff team are committed and have high expectations.”

Pre-school leader Janice Fletcher said: “Two new preschool assistants were welcomed to the team in January, bringing a wealth of experience with them.

“Thank you to all our staff and families for their support, it is a great result.

“Our whole team is very dedicated to providing the best experience for the children and their families and the Ofsted report recognises this.”

The preschool is holding an open afternoon on April 20, from 1.15pm until 2.45pm, at The Old School in Greenmount.

Anyone looking for a preschool place is welcome to visit with their little one and meet the team.
