A RAMSBOTTOM youngster has made it through to the final of a national crafts competition.

Charlie Nicholas, aged seven, of Rothwell Street, has made it through to the last four of a BoxHead Craft competition and his hopes of winning now rest on an online public vote.

BoxHead Craft describe themselves as ‘manufacturers of blank box heads for Minecraft freaks who want to create and wear their own skins’.

The youngster, who is a pupil at Emmanuel Holcombe Primary School, came across the competition after attending a Digital Kids Show at Media City with his parents back in November.

The competition requires children to decorate a box, hang it over their head, and then send in a picture or video.

His mother Lisa Nicholas said: “We thought we would buy him a BoxHead from the stall at the Digital Kids Show and they said it was a competition.

“He had to make it, pick a design he liked, colour it in then send it in.

“He is very into Minecraft so he did a Minecraft design called Hit the Target.

“We are very proud of him. He has done really well. He has always liked to colour and draw.”

Charlie's effort has so far received about 50 votes, but his parents say that as they do not use social media, he is quite a way behind his competitors.

Anyone can vote by registering a like on a contestant's picture on BoxHead Craft’s Facebook page.

Voting is open until midnight on Sunday, February 4, and the winner will receive an Xbox One.
