Lucy Jackson (age 18 from Ramsbottom) has achieved the impressive ARSM Level 4 Diploma in Music Performance with merit in ‘cello.

Lucy who is now an Associate of the Royal Schools of Music demonstrated her performance skills in an intense a 30-minute programme which was assessed on musical communication skills, interpretation and technical delivery.

Lucy has studied the instrument at school since the age of four, under the tutelage of Emma Dixon BMus(hons) MMus, being successful in her all ABRSM Grades 1-8.

Lucy said: "I cannot believe it is 14 years ago that I started to play on a tenth size cello. The encouragement I have been given by my cello teacher and the school music department has helped so much. Opportunities to perform at many school concerts, Ramsbottom Music Festival, the Rotary Young Musician competition and with the Halle Youth Orchestra have all inspired me and developed my love of the cello. I am now looking forward to new musical opportunities at University."

There is an opportunity to hear Lucy to perform in a School recital at Bury Parish Church, which takes place on Friday 2 March at 12.30pm.
