HOLCOMBE Brook's Post Office has reopened with a new look and 23 hours extra opening time.

The Post Office opened its doors to customers after the local MP cut the ribbon.

The branch in Longsight Road has been modernised and now has longer opening hours.

Khuram Siddique is the new operator of the Post Office.

He said: "I am delighted to be the new postmaster of Holcombe Brook Post Office.

"I am looking forward to welcoming new people into the branch. I am proud to say that our store plays a vital part in serving our local area, I regard the Post Office network as a vital part of the community.”

Bury North MP James Frith opened the Post Office branch on March 5 with an oversized pair of scissors.

He said: “I was delighted to be asked to officially open the modernised Holcombe Brook Post Office and I congratulate Khuram and the Post Office for working in partnership to deliver this.

"I know that Post Offices are often a focal point for the community.

"It’s great that my constituents will be able to benefit from the extended opening hours at the post office."

The branch will now be open from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday meaning it will have increased its opening times by 23 hours a week.

Post Office area network operations manager, Bev Lumb said: “I’d like to wish Khuram every success in his new venture.

"We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Bury and we are confident that this modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.”

The branch was updated as part of a modernisation and investment programme which has been taking place across the Post Office network.

The community can access a range of services, including special delivery, local collect, home shopping returns, and make online banking cash deposits and withdrawals, send funds abroad using Moneygram, pay bills, pre-order travel money, get travel insurance and top up mobile phones.
