BUDDING photographers are being invited to show off their best landscape snaps in a photography competition.

Pennine Prospects' South Pennines’ Photography Competition is open to both amateur and professional photographers, with the only stipulation being that any images submitted must be of the South Pennines.

The winning photographs will be used to promote the area, and will be selected to appear in the South Pennine: 'Through the Lens' greeting cards.

12 selected images will also feature in a roving exhibition across the South Pennines with photographers credited for any images used.

Competition organiser Adele Adams said: “We are looking for photographs that demonstrate the diversity of the area from its rugged wildness to its industrial heritage.

"Photographs that help to define or describe the South Pennines, not just its landscapes but also its wildlife, its people and the events that take place here, would be great to see.

"This competition is all about celebrating everything we have in the South Pennines.”

Among last year's three winning entries was an image of Holcombe Hill as seen from Scout Moor, which was taken by Steve Smith.

Entry is free and the deadline is August 5.
