The Rock continues to take shape as AMF Bowling cranes in the bowling lanes for its new bowling centre at the £350m retail and leisure development which is due to open on July 16th.

Eight 40ft containers have been flown in from America housing all the bowling lanes and specialist technology. These have now been delivered on site and were craned in to the new bowling centre by Lang O’Rourke.

AMF is investing around £2.5 million in Bury and its new centre showcases the latest in bowling technology, comprising 24 fully-computerised lanes, a modern bar, diner, and amusement area. Jon Smith from AMF Bowling, commented: “AMF Bury will offer something for everyone, and for those seeking the ultimate bowling experience, the new centre will also host ‘Xtreme Bowling’, which incorporates the very latest in bowling technology including: ultra-violet lights to illuminate the lanes, glow in the dark bowling balls, and lighting which ‘dances’ in time with music.”

In addition to AMF Bury, the leisure element at The Rock consists of a 10-screen multiplex Vue cinema as well as eight popular restaurants, including Pizza Express, Frankie & Benny’s and Flaming Dragon. Carolyn Kenney, Project Director for Hammerson, added: “Securing a brand like AMF is vital to creating a family friendly environment at The Rock which can be enjoyed in the evenings and at weekends. Combined with the cinema and the great restaurant line up, consumers will have an excellent choice of entertainment available to them, perfect for catching up with friends and family or relaxing after a day’s shopping.”

The Rock’s retail offering includes anchor tenants Debenhams and Marks & Spencer, alongside eight other flagship stores including Next, River Island, Peacocks, H&M, Primark, JD Sports and Bank.
