AS attacks, be it verbally or otherwise, on crews attending incidents as in Openshaw Park become more frequent, perhaps it is time for fire engines to be fitted with an extra hose.
A hose with water cannon capabilities, or at least Smart Water additives.
Even a good drenching on a cold winter's night would serve more than enough deterrent for most of these idiots.
Smart Water, invisible on application, could enable suspects to be identified by police with a UV light source if needed.
Even adding dye to the water would make parents ask what has been going on.
You would be hard pressed to explain being covered from head to foot in, say, bright orange?
Some form if deterrent absolutely vital before lives are lost.
