GARY Neville has NOT paid part of Bury players’ wages, the Shakers have told the Bury Times.
The Gigg Lane club insist reports that the former England and Manchester United defender has funded Shakers’ players’ wages out of his own pocket are completely untrue.
The cash-strapped Gigg Lane men are desperately seeking a massive financial injection to prevent them from going into administration or even going out of existence.
Reports claim Bury-born Neville dipped into his own pocket to help pay the players in January.
But a spokesman for the Gigg Lane board told the Bury Times and The Bolton News this afternoon that the stories were totally inaccurate.
“Gary Neville has not paid the players’ wages,” he said.
“The stories going round give the impression that Gary has paid the players’ wages, and that’s not true. I can categorically say that.
Shakers chairman Brian Fenton and commercial director David Manchester will be questioned by fans at a forum at Gigg Lane tomorrow night.
