CRAIG Jones says he can’t wait to “kick on” at Bury after signing a new two-and-a-half year deal at the club.

The winger, signed last summer from Welsh semi-pro club The New Saints, has been a hit at Gigg Lane despite suffering a few problems with injuries.

“We are delighted to have tied Craig into a longer term contract with the club as Craig's ambitions match the clubs to be playing football at a higher level,” said chairman Stewart Day.

“We feel that Craig will play a significant part to make this achievable with Bury FC and how we want the club to progress forward.”

Jones has featured 14 times for the Shakers this season but has missed the last three games with a groin problem. And he is looking forward to becoming a fixture in the first team under caretaker boss Ronnie Jepson.

“I am delighted to have signed a contract extension as the ambition of the chairman and board of directors has shown me where they want to take this club,” he said.

“I am excited at the prospect of being part of that journey to take this club into the higher levels of the football league where we rightly belong; the transformation at the club in the past few months has been exceptional which is why I wanted to commit my future to Bury FC.”

While Jones was committing his future to the Shakers, fellow wide man Temitope Obadeyi was being shipped out on loan.

The 24-year-old summer signing, who has only played three times for Bury, joined fellow League Two strugglers Plymouth Argyle on loan until January 4 and was thrown on for the final 30 minutes of their FA Cup draw at Lincoln.
