In the last round of matches before the Christmas break the top two teams in the First Division were in action. Central briefly returned to the top of the table after a 23-6 home win over Rising Bridge A, who move up to third place.
But 48 hours later, Broadway A’s 22-7 win over bottom side Transport ensured they would finished the year on top of the pile with a narrow two-point lead over Central. In the Second Division Edenfield A moved into second place after a 24-5 win at Phoenix.
They are now 33 points behind the leaders Broadway B with six games in hand. Despite two defeats in three days Goodshaw B moved off the bottom of the table. They lost 22-7 at Fearns B and 48 hours later they went down 20-9 at Towneley.
