Bury Broncos Under-18s won the league title on Sunday in dramatic fashion with a late Joe Kelly try to earn a 18-18 draw against Westhougton and complete the season undefeated.

The Broncos had raced into an early 14-0 lead through tries from Joe Wilkinson, Mike Carter and Kelly but the visitors chipped away at the lead throughout the second half, finally taking the lead with seven minutes left.

Needing a try to level the scores and secure the title, Bury forced the error deep in the Lions half with two minutes remaining before working the ball through hands to Kelly who dived over in the corner to snatch the title and earn the club their first bit of silverware this year.

The Broncos went into the game undefeated with a vastly superior points difference.

However the title would be decided on results between the top two sides in the result of a points tie, meaning Bury only needed to avoid defeat against a Westhougton team they had drawn with earlier this season.
