Bury Broncos’ season is over after suffering a play-off defeat away at Orrell St James for the second consecutive year.
Despite a first half hat-trick for Blake Roberts, who scored all of Bury’s points, the Broncos crashed out in the semi-finals once again.
The visitors got off to a dream start going 10-0 up thanks to two tries and a kick from Roberts.
Orrell soon hit back with a converted try of their own to reduce the deficit to four points but Roberts completed his hat-trick to put Bury 16-6 up at the break.
Despite Bury being in control of the game, a poor second half meant the hosts were unable to add to their points, whilst league leader’s Orrell scored 27 unanswered points to run out comfortable victors.
Orrell will now take on Widnes Tigers in Saturday’s league final.
Bury Broncos A team suffered a disappointing 25-20 defeat at home to Cadishead Rhinos on Saturday, despite wrapping up the Division Five league title.
