SEDGLEY Tigers coach Geoff Roberts believes there is more to come from his side after a powerful display against a plucky Hull team moved the Park Lane outfit into joint fourth place in National League Two North on Saturday.

Although the depleted visitors put in a spirited effort they were unable to contend with the Tigers' pack, with the promotion chasers wrapping up the bonus point by half time in the 47-15 victory.

Despite the convincing scoreline, Roberts believes the Tigers still need to rediscover the exciting brand of rugby he knows they can play if they are to become serious promotion contenders.

"We looked solid but we are still looking for that little bit of spark, that bit of excitement in our play which has been missing this season," he said.

"If we can get that back I think we can be right up there."

"Hull worked hard but we were more powerful in all departments. It was a good result but we seem to be labouring to the line and we made hard work of it at times.

"There are a few players creeping back into form with Richard Wainwright, Billy Emerson, George Hymes and Steve Collins all putting in decent performances, so hopefully we can find that spark soon," said Roberts.

Tries from Oliver Parkinson and Matt Riley, both converted by Steve Collins, gave the Tigers a comfortable 14-0 lead inside the first quarter of the match.

Hull responded with a James Cameron penalty before further tries from Andy Riley and Liam West and the conversions from Collins extended the Tigers' lead to 28-3.

Stephen Hihetah's try and Cameron's conversion reduced the advantage to 28-10 at half time, but a try in the first minute of the second period from substitute Rhys Davies put the Tigers firmly in control of the game, with Collins again adding the extras.

Two tries in four minutes from Jamie Harrison and Parkinson, with one conversion from Collins, extended the Tigers' lead to 47-10 before Jesse Bright completed the scoring with a consolation effort for Hull to make the final score 47-15.

Roberts hopes to have a fully-fit squad to choose from as the Tigers visit seventh-placed rivals Otley on Saturday.

"Juan Crous took a knock to the knee against Hull, while Matt Lamprey, Ryan and Oli Parkinson also suffered slight injuries but I think everyone will be fit," he said.

"It is the Lancashire/Yorkshire derby and it will most definitely be a tough day out.

"I always feel the Yorkshire men take it a bit more seriously than their Lancashire counterparts and it is always a difficult place to go.

"Even when we were further down the leagues, Otley have always been alongside us so it's one of those long-lasting rivalries," said Roberts.
