BURY boxing world champion Scott Quigg is relishing another taste of the big-fight atmosphere at Manchester Arena when he takes on Carl Frampton in a sold-out blockbuster this month, writes David Pye.

The 27-year-old puts his unbeaten record on the line against the undefeated Northern Irishman in an all-British showdown that sold out in a matter of minutes.

Quigg is counting down the days until February 27 and a fight he has dreamed of for more than four years.

And despite a travelling army of fans following Frampton from Belfast, the Lancastrian is confident the home crowd will drive him to another victory.

The WBA super bantamweight king told Bury Times: "If this doesn’t excite you, you are in the wrong game.

"We are lucky to have each other really – for him to be as good as he is and me to be as good as I am.

"To have that domestic rivalry but to both be world champions as well takes it up a level.

"If we didn’t have each other, we wouldn’t be involved in this huge fight.

"It sold out in three-and-a-half minutes.

"For the tickets to go that quickly, you pinch yourself.

"I actually logged on that morning and was one of the lucky ones that got through to buy tickets.

"I refreshed the page and it had sold out and I was like ‘wow’.

"That’s when you realise how big the fight is.

"Having the weigh-in at the Arena as well and 6-7,000 fans there is going to be incredible and that is what makes it more of an event than any normal fight.

"I think he is showing signs of cracking.

"In his most recent interview he said it will be a hostile reception, yet at first he said he was going to have all the fans on his side.

"The reception for me the last few times at the Arena has been incredible and I'm sure it will be electric again."
