Radcliffe AC runners were out in force last Sunday morning as 24 of their members took on the fantastic Sunnywood Projects Burrs Park 5km Community Run.

Part of this year’s club championship, it was a sea of yellow in wet and muddy conditions. Marc Taylor came out of hibernation to remind everyone what a formidable 5k runner he is as he won by a country mile in 20mins 24secs.

Next home was club captain Si Foulkes in 21:46, followed by Adam Wills in 22:10 - fantastic performances despite them both grumbling the whole way round.

Other results: Mark Taylor 22:58, Steve Fawcett 23:17, Mark Garner 23:42, Charlene Leyden 24:07, Sheila Jones 24:35, Karen Wells 25:39, Amanda Callen 25:51, Alison Howarth 27:27, Kath Davies 28:36, Helen Kay 28:44, Elaine Bailey 28:50, Stephen Crowe 28:51, Charlotte Holden 29:01, Lucy Tetler 31:03, Caroline Malone 31:06, Lou Shield 31:23, Tracy Wroe 33:22, Sheila McNulty 33:48.

Sarah Wilson and Natalie Hitchen ran together in 40.17 and Andy Wheeler completed it in 47.15 with only one arm.

Also at Burrs, Paul Benson completed the 2k route in 14:37, soundly beaten by daughter Melissa who ran a great race.

Elsewhere, Craig Norman took part in The Ultra Loop 8 at Heaton Park on Saturday - a mixed-terrain race that gives you eight hours to run as far as you can.

He had a recurrence of an old injury but not before he had completed 21.54 miles in just over three hours - an incredible effort and no doubt he will be back when healed.

In the Saturday morning parkruns people were out and about as usual.

Down in Winchester, Oliver Swan finished in 33:51.

At Bolton, Mark Williams clocked 28:02 and Kath Davies also ran, while at Crosby, Stephen Crowe managed 29:32. At Hyndburn, Helen Kay achieved 37:43 and Bev Quinton 1:03:00.
