On a weekend without any formal league events, a number of Bury AC members used local parkruns to test themselves.
At Heaton Park, Luke Harreld took second place in a very respectable 16mins 47secs, with Byron Edwards in seventh in 17:32.
Paul Marshall was in 13th with 18:17 and Rob Fowler was hot on his heels in 16th, with 18:26.
Caitlyn Johnston was first woman with a new personal-best time of 19:21, running with father Paul, who crossed the line in 19:23.
Curtis Simpson was in 30th overall with 19:44, with Sarah Thomas finishing second woman in 19:57. Bury’s other finishers included Alex Leach (20:51), Sarah Flett (21:45) and Rachel Marshall (21:46).
Nicola Ryan ran in the Clarence Parkrun, finishing second woman in 22:57. Giles Bennett ran in the Peel Parkrun, finishing 13th with 19:31.
Further afield, Matt Garside ran in the Alton Towers 10k, taking 28th place and covering the hilly course in 37:53.
This weekend the club will have a large number of younger athletes competing at the South East Lancs Cross Country League, in Royton.
