Two Bury AC members competed at the prestigious Podium 5k races in Barrowford last Friday, with both taking part in the B race.

Team captain Byron Edwards took 21st place with 17mins 1sec. The time was fast enough to secure him first place in the V45 age category.

Triathlete Matthew Garside took 28th place overall with 17:21 - a time he was pleased with and which gave him second place in the V35 age category.

The South East Lancs Cross Country Leagues races scheduled for Saturday were cancelled due to the course being heavily waterlogged.

It meant Bury members used the parkrun events as a means of securing some competition.

At Heaton Park, Martin Clark took second place with 17:26, with Conor Wilkinson just 12 seconds behind in fifth place.

Rob Fowler took 11th place with 18:49.

Young Lucy Dent was seventh female finisher with 21:36.

Other Bury finishers included Brain Thomas, with 21:54, Mujamil Hussain (22:00) and young Myla Bryan in a new best of 24:31.

At the Oldham Parkrun, new member Alexander Hannay took seventh place in a new personal best of 18:18.
