Spring came early for Radcliffe AC members who were out in force at the Stockport Daffodil 10k.

There was a sea of yellow and black vests at Sunday’s race which was the first in the club’s 2024 road and trail championship.

Five Radcliffe members pushed themselves when they took part in The Hebden on Saturday, the popular event organised by the Long Distance Walkers Association.

Billed as a challenge rather than a race, participants have the option of running or walking either a 15-mile or a 22-mile route on the hills and trails around Hebden Bridge.

Ian Swan completed the 22-mile course, which started in Mytholmroyd and had 4,080 feet of climbing, in a fantastic 4:27:00, despite having a problem with his foot. Kath Davies and Karen Doherty also completed the 22-mile route in 6:24:00.

Donna Cartwright flew round the tough terrain of 15-mile route in 3:07:00, while Tracy Wroe completed an impressive 10 miles before being forced to pull out due to back pain.

Katherine Biddle was also out on the trails, completing the Tissington Trail Half Marathon, along the site of a former railway line from Ashbourne to Buxton in Derbyshire, in 2:10:49.
