SNOOKER Elton Lib B clinched the Irwell Street Metals A Section, despite going down 6-3 at home to Bury Snooker B.

Wins in the first two frames by James Kay and Craig Steadman were enough.

Steadman compiled a 76 break in his 126-62 frame win. Lee Marney recorded breaks of 30 and a 35 clearance to take his frame for the snooker club, who finished the season in third spot.

Huntley A whitewashed Elton Lib C 8-0, to claim second place.

Malc Caunce and Phil Jones both registered 25 breaks in their victories.

At the other end of the table, Tottington D overcame Stanley A 6-2. Tony Preston, 98-38, and Pete Wilding, 107-36, won convincingly while Ian Martin needed to clear all the colours to win on the black.

Salisbury won a close match with Elton Lib D 6-3, but still finished bottom.

Bury Snooker C continued their good run of late to defeat Fishpool 6-2, Kevin Bogden top scoring 80-28.

Central Snooker A, winners of the Bath Shoppe B Section, ended their season in style, with an 8-1 win at Whitefield A.

Les Eckersley compiled a 31 break in his frame win. Bury Snooker D clinched second spot with a 5-3 home win over Elton Lib A. Seedfield A had to settle for third spot, despite a 6-2 win against Tottington C.

Huntley C had the best win of the night, 9-0 at Central Snooker B, who finished bottom of the league.

Kevin Newbery won his frame convincingly 92-28.

Buchanans A defeated Whitefield B 6-2, S Ashworth winning well, 86-31.

St Mary’s overcame Central Snooker C to claim second spot in the Bury Bed and Pine Centre C Section.

League winners Stanley B drew 4-4 with Tottington, despite winning only two frames.

The closest match was at Huntley C. Five of the six frames went down to the final black and the match itself went down to the last ball before the duck club ran out 6-2 winners.

Tottington B defeated bottom club Seedfield B 7-1 and a clean sweep at dominoes gave the Fork Lift Training Roll Up on countback.

Bury B won 5-3 at home against Buchanans B.
