FROM terrace hero to radio star, it is all in a day’s work for Shakers striker Ryan Lowe.

For when he is not banging in the goals for Bury, the 31-year-old striker can be found presenting a popular radio programme in his home city of Liverpool.

The Gigg Lane ace hosts a one-hour show every Monday on Merseyside radio station City Talk 105.9FM — and admits he is just as comfortable in front of the microphone as he is behind it.

“It’s a good show,” said Lowe. “We talk about Liverpool, Everton and Tranmere Rovers and it’s just like spending an hour chatting with your mates.

“There is me, a football agent and producer Steve Hothersall and we talk about the different games and give our own opinions.

“I have been doing it for a year now and I really enjoy it. It came about because I used to do a lot of work with them when I was play for Chester, talking about the weekend game, and then they offered me a regular slot.

“We talk about Bury quite a bit now because some people who listen monitor my progress; they know when I have scored, when we have won and where we are in the table. We chat about myself, how the club are doing and what life is like down the lower leagues.”

While Lowe is hoping to continue playing for a few years yet, he admits a career in the media does interest him.

“I would like to go into the media one day,” said the 17-goal hitman. “I did some work for television last month where I interviewed the manager and a BBC journalist after our game against Dagenham and it was something different for me to try while I was out injured.

“I am keeping my options open at the moment because I want to concentrate on my football but it is nice to get the experience of these things. I am 31 now but I am not planning on hanging up my boots just yet. I hope I have another five or six years in me but when the time comes it will be something that I look into. It is going well at the minute.”
