I WENT over to Belfast on Saturday on something of a scouting trip.

I was part of the Sky Sports commentary team for Carl Frampton’s Commonwealth title victory over Mark Quon.

While his opponent was not the best fighter I have ever seen, I was impressed by Frampton.

I thought I would go over and show my face because, in another 12 months, it might make sense for us to fight.

Frampton is coached by Barry McGuigan and there is a lot of hype surrounding him – a bit like myself really.

If we can both continue to back it up with performances, it is highly likely we will set up a meeting.

Whether it is Frampton or Rendall Munroe, who is now under the same promoter as me, I will take anyone on because I believe I am the best super-bantamweight in Britain at the moment.

I have got an extra buzz for boxing following my move to Joe Gallagher’s gym in Bolton.

We are based at Amir Khan’s Gloves gym and I am enjoying learning fresh things and working with new people.

It was a hard decision to leave Collyhurst and Moston Lads Club because they have got me to where I am today, but I just felt I needed a change.

At Gallagher’s gym there are fighters like Anthony Crolla, Joe Murray and Stephen Smith. Two of those are British champions at similar weights to me so the sparring is a step up and I can challenge myself to match their achievements, and even beat them.

My style of boxing will not be changing, but Joe has noticed a few things and it is nice to iron out any chinks in the armour.

I am enjoying new my new training routines - things like swimming and track work have been introduced to me and I love the variety.

It’s all shaping up well ahead of my British title fight with Jason Booth in Bolton on October 22.
