SHREWSBURY boss Gary Peters has told Bury he is willing to talk about a permanent deal for in-form striker Glynn Hurst.

The 30-year-old goalpoacher, who is currently on a one-month loan with the Shakers, has scored four goals in his first three starts, helping Chris Casper's side push their way up the League Two table.

But the striker's chances of a first team place on his return to Shrewsbury look bleak and Peters has invited Bury to make an offer.

"We haven't received any contact from Chris Casper or Bury regarding a permanent deal for Glynn," said Peters. "When the initial contact was made we offered Bury the choice between a one-month and three-month deal, and I told Glynn we would review it on his return.

"They chose the one-month option and I wouldn't like to go back on my word. But if a permanent move is something they would like to discuss, then they can come and talk to me."

Hurst has forged an exciting strike partnership with Andy Bishop for the Shakers and can still play in two further league games before his current loan deal expires It is understood he may need to take a wage cut if a move to Gigg Lane is to materialise, but the lure of regular first-team football could be too tempting an offer for the former Stockport, Barnsley and Ayr United hitman.

Casper has already confirmed he would like to bring Hurst to the club, and the news that Shrewsbury are willing to play ball could be a big boost.

"There is a chance he could stay, but it is not my call," he said, earlier this week of the Cheshire-based forward. "It is down to Gary Peters to decide whether or not he wants Glynn back at Shrewsbury, but I will do everything I can.

"He has made a terrific start here, and I would love to bring him to the club on a longer deal, perhaps permanently."

Bury have a free weekend after their Sunday fixture against Wrexham was called off due to international call-ups for the Welsh club.
