KEVIN Blackwell has moved quickly to boost Bury’s defensive cover ahead of his first home match in charge against Swindon tomorrow.
The new Shakers boss swooped to make his first signing today, snapping up Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Matt Doherty on a three month loan deal.
The 20-year-old, who was signed for Wolves from Irish side Bohemians by former manager Mick McCarthy in 2010, has only made one appearance for the Black Country side in the FA Cup.
He spent a brief spell with Hibernian on loan last season and has represented the Republic of Ireland Under-19s.
Doherty is able to play at full-back and in central defence and should go straight into Blackwell’s squad for the Swindon match.
