TOM Hopper’s month-long loan spell at Bury may run out after the match at Crawley on Saturday week, but the young Leicester striker is eager for more.

The 18-year-old forward has started every game since being flung into the firing line against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

And while he initially struggled to get off the mark, last season’s Leicester academy player of the year was the man of the match at Stevenage on Saturday.

After scoring his first league goal and setting up Mark Cullen for the equaliser, Hopper is now hopeful a deal can be done to extend his stay at Gigg Lane.

“My aim is to play football and get goals,” he said after Saturday’s promising 2-2 draw at the Lamex Stadium.

“Whether or not I do that here, I would be delighted to stay as long as I keep playing, but that’s out of my hands at the moment.

“The first game has been promising, but he (Bury manager Kevin Blackwell) has only been here about 48 hours so I don’t know what his plans are at the moment.

“Obviously I will have a word with him and hopefully get it sorted.

“If the option is there and I’m going to keep on playing football, then I don’t see why not.”
