RADCLIFFE Dynamics ABC fighter Jason Cohen was crowned the North West king on Saturday after winning the Junior Novice Championships.

In the 57 kilo division, he beat Robert Bradshaw (Chorley ABC) on a points decision in Gorton, Manchester.

It capped a fine weekend for the Water Street-based club, who hosted their own show at Radcliffe Civic Suite on Sunday.

They had four winners with Dave Kiely, Jason Halliwell, Niall Berry and Lewis Godfrey beating Yenya Gamie (Wakefield), Ben Glendenning (Elite), Gaz Lee (Wildcard) and Thomas Speed (Chester Police) respectively.

Darren Lindsay and Luke Shackleton suffered defeats to Luke Smith (Keighley) and Darren Rea (Sutton) respectively.

Training sessions for all ages and abilities run on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays at Dynamics gym from 6-7.15pm under the tutelage of former British and European champion Ady Lewis and fully-qualified ABA coach Mick Haslam.

Over at Bury ABC, Cornelius Knight won the junior area title at the Novice championships.

The local lad beat Castle Hill’s Kiernan McAfee in the 52-54kg final in the under-10 bouts on Saturday in Gorton. But there was disappointment for club-mate Mohamed Roshid who was stopped in the second round of his 50-52kg under-20 fight clash.

In the seniors, North West 71-75kg champion Brian Rennie will take on his Tyne Tees counterpart in the national pre quarter-finals on Sunday.
