RAMSBOTTOM’S Under-11s cricketers won a Lancashire League and cup double before being crowned joint winners of Lancashire Knockout Cup in bizarre circumstances in Leyland as fire swept through a neighbouring secondary school.
The successful local lads were entered into the Knockout after a three-match winning streak saw them face Ormskirk in the final. But as the match was getting under way at the ground next to the school, the game was abandoned due to the seriousness of the fire at the school adjacent to the ground.
