BURY Broncos were introduced to Division Two of the North West Men's League in harsh fashion by a very good Golborne Parkside side who left Philips High with a 60-6 win.

Bury held up well for most of the first half despite conceding an early score and were unlucky not to sneak a score or two in reply out wide but the visitors defence was strong. However, three scores in the last 10 minutes turned a 10-point deficit into a more comfortable 28-point lead.

Despite the large scoreline, Bury showed heart in the second half and managed to grab a consolation try through Blake Roberts.

However the visitors managed to tag on another six tries of their own to show just why they won the Premier Division of the North West Winter league and are sure to see themselves move quickly up the summer ranks based on performances like that.

Bury A travelled to Cadishead Rhinos first team and more than matched a physical side to come away with two points and move into the Division Four play-off spots.

The Broncos began well with strong carrying from the forwards putting Cadishead on the back foot despite Nathan Vernon and Ryan Harner both making good yards for the home side.

Despite their dominance Bury were unable to turn the pressure into points until half way through the first half with penalties allowing Cadishead to get out of jail more than once.

However the pressure finally told when Ryan Blackwell muscled over from short range with Andy Willis 0 – 6 kicking a conversion and following that up with a penalty soon after to make the score 8-0.

Bury began to turn the screw at that point with Grant Carr finishing off a good break by Warren Taylor with Willis adding the kick to make it 14-0 at half time.

At the start of the second half Broncos kicked off and Mark Woodfine failed to gather for Cadishead giving the Broncos a great platform to keep up their momentum. The home side were punished when a good ball from Will Spencer was taken in by Jonno Taylor who gave Bury A a dream start to the second half. More great work by the forwards soon after gave Paul Kynaston the chance to crash over with Willis converting both kicks to give him a 100% record for the day and Bury a commanding 26-0 lead.

Bury eased their foot off the pedal and rotated their subs for the rest of the game but Cadishead rallied themselves with help from interchanges of their own. Duncan Brickhill and Kieran Brady came off the bench and added some aggression before Matty Lee added a late consolation after winning a footrace to Lee Mack’s kick with the conversion leaving the final score at 26-6.
