Bury Broncos' volunteer and unsung hero Jean Palin has been shortlisted for a rugby league award.

Out of the 300 nominees Palin has made it into the top 10 finalists for the Foxy Bingo Ladies of the League award.

The accolade highlights the work of ladies involved in the game who are going the extra mile for their club or rugby league community.

Jean is the resident kit washer/shirt repairer at Bury Broncos, who play their matches at Philips High School, and more recently she has even stepped in to deputise for the the chairman, club secretary and treasurer. She has also been co-opted on to the committee of the North West 6-12 Junior League as secretary.

As a Salford fan, Jean was one of the founders of the Salford supporters trust 'Forever Reds'.

When the club was in difficulties in the early part of this century, she helped raise funds to maintain the full time squad that took Salford back into Superleague.

If Jean wins she will receive £1,000 in holiday vouchers and the Broncos will also receive £1,000 towards their Hub Project to turn their Whitefield base into somewhere that is extra safe and welcoming in order to continue to grow rugby league in the area.

Voting continues throughout August. To vote for Jean visit www.ladiesoftheleague.co.uk/vote.php.
