FORMER world darts champion Dennis "The Menace" Priestley presented a cheque for £1,500 on behalf of fundraiser Jim Rhodes to St Ann's Hospice after taking part in a charity exhibition.

The event raised £400, which included an £80 donation by Paul Bennett on behalf of PC Decorating Contractors, and was added to money raised by Mr Rhodes over the past 12 months in a series of charity darts matches and running events.

The latest donation brings the total he has raised for the hospice over the past 31 years to £57,500.

Priestley, winner of two world championships, was accompanied by Sky Sports compere, Trevor Jones when he visited Henighans in Little Lever, Bolton.

He played 16 players at 501-up and in a team match of 801-up against a selection of local runners.

Priestley was in top form, losing only one game of 501-up and winning the team match against all-comers.

He hit six 180s, seven 140s and 24 100s, and had a 115.5 average in one 501 game.

Radcliffe's Deanne Dolan won the ladies' high score cup with a score of 140.

The runners' high score cup was won by Radcliffe Athletic Club member Karen Doherty who scored 66.

The outstanding cup winner was Little Lever's Paul Bennett who was the only person to beat Priestley, winning with an 88.41 average.

The men's high score cup was won by Little Lever's Tony Cooke who scored 118.
