YWCA Bury moved up to third in the North West Premiership with an impressive 42-35 victory at second-placed Blackpool.
A youthful side included debuts for three junior players from the under-16s squad.
Lauren Tattersall started at goal shooter and Elia McCormick at goal keeper, while Brenna McPartlan was on the bench.
McCormick looked right at home in the new-look defence alongside Tyrene Karim, keeping chances for the home side's tall goal shooter at a premium.
That allowed the visitors to open up a 10-7 lead in the first quarter, while a player-of-the-match display from wing defence Sascha Eady helped Bury continually turn over possession in the second period to increase their advantage.
Blackpool came back into the match in the second half following a round of substitutions, but the damage had already been done, allowing Bury to close the gap to their opponents to seven points with a game in hand.
In the Group B Championship fixture, second-placed Bury lost a tight match 38-29 at Capricorn, who moved up to third in the table.
Bury fought back after a slow start to close the deficit to two points, but despite experienced players Katie Myers and Holly Koval leading well from the front, their fightback tailed off in the closing stages.
