A TRAMPOLINE trio from Bury have reached new heights after qualifying to compete at British Gymnastics' National Development Plan (NDP) finals in Telford this weekend.

Bury Trampoline Club members Lucy Chandler, Freya Cairns and Oscar Milner won through to perform in the individual finals after performing well for the North West at the regional team trampolining and tumbling championships in Birmingham last month.

All gymnasts who finished in the top eight of their individual disciplines at the finals made it through, and Lucy, Freya and Oscar did not disappoint.

Oscar, aged 10, of Brandlesholme, who attends Old Hall Primary School, won gold in the NDP level five double mini trampoline (DMT) at the team finals to become the first Bury Trampoline Club member to make it through to the nationals in that discipline.

He will also compete in NDP level four trampoline after finishing fifth overall in the team finals.

Woodhey High School pupil Lucy, aged 13, of Ramsbottom, won silver in NDP level six trampoline and finished sixth in level six DMT.

And Freya, aged 11, of Tottington, who attended Holcombe Brook Primary School, was fifth overall in NDP level five trampolining.

Bury Trampolining Club has been run by June Short for more than 30 years.

Their gymnasts have been backed by local businessman Craig Hindle, owner of AWR (Alloy Wheels Refurbished) Bury, who helped pay for their kit and expenses in their successful bid to reach the national finals.
