Bury AC athletes were in fine form at the Trafford AC Medal Meeting, recording a host of personal bests and medal-winning performances.

Star of the day was Jerel Livingston. He took gold in the under-13s boys’ 75m in a time of 11.10secs. He then recorded superb personal bests in the 600m with 1min 54.25secs for fourth and a fine 3.73m in the long jump for sixth place.

Another medal winner on the day was Hattie Vaughan in the u13s girls’ competition. She leapt 4.06m for second in the long jump, 1.30m for third in the high jump and added a third in the 150m with 23.01 – all personal bests.

In fact, there were new personal bests all around for the Bury athletes. Edward Siddall showed excellent potential with 11.81 for the 75m, 24.93 for the 150m and 2.99m in the long jump. Twins, Max and Toby Lythgoe recorded new personal bests, Toby being the quicker in the sprints, but Max leaping further in the long jump. Not to be outshone by the other u11s boys or his sister, Gil Vaughan recorded a fine 2:15.50 for a new 600m best.

For the u11s girls, Iman Ultaq recorded best of 12.41 and 2.99m in the 75m and long jump respectively. Emily McSharry was just a centimetre behind in the long jump and Freya Potts showed her potential with a strong 2:18.24 in the 600m. In the u15s boys’ event, Alex Bennett took personal bests in the 200m and 800m with 28.71 and 2:29.50 respectively.

There was a superb personal best for V45 Dave Carroll in the Rock ’n’ Roll Liverpool Marathon. Just a month after completing the Manchester Marathon, Carroll completed the 26.2 mile course nearly half-an-hour quicker, recording an excellent 3:54:53. And, finally, a correction from previous reports. Due to a results mix-up Katie Geelan was missed off the results of the Greater Manchester 10k at the end of May. In fact, Geelan was just outside her personal best with a time of 40:30, which gave her 33rd place in the women’s event.
