THERE were top performances and medals galore when Radcliffe Athletic Club members joined thousands on the streets of Liverpool.

In hot conditions in the city's Rock n Roll Marathon on Sunday, Fiona Lynch showed her form with a new personal best time of 3hrs 11mins 17seconds, coming home second woman overall.

Luigi Salzano also clocked a personal best with 3:26:22, beating his three-and-a-half-hour target.

Chemane Brier was also in the medals in Liverpool at the weekend. She beat her personal best by 50 seconds in the 5k event on Saturday, crossing the finish line in 21:18. The following day she ran the half marathon in 1:39:00.

Amanda Hey clocked 1:45:37 in the half marathon, while Emma Moss beat her time from last year to finish in 2:03:00.

Fire officer Tony Holt took part in the National Emergency Services Triathlon Championships in Nottingham.

The championships were run as a wave of the Nottingham Sprint Triathlon at the National Watersports Centre.

Holt finished in 1:16:00 and was first vet-50. His team were second, just pipped to the post by the police.

Mauro Rotondi started the challenging 15 miles and 4,386 feet of the Helvellyn And The Dodds Fell Race in the Lake District on Sunday but a twisted ankle ended his race. 

In the midweek four-mile Foe Edge Fell Race from Cowpe village in Rossendale, four runners had to contend with drizzle as they took on a steep start and climbing of 984 feet.

A cracking downhill finish made up for the climb and Chris Paxton was 47th in 43:09. Next home was Kris Lee (V40) in 44:38, Kath Davies (V50) ran 49:48 and Sinead Hayes finished in 1:02:56.

Vince Ashton (V40) notched up his 20th venue parkrun venue when he ran at the tough Haigh Woodland Park event in Wigan.

He clocked 24:51 to finish fifth in his age group.
