NEAL Emmerson did Radcliffe Athletic Club proud at the Birchwood 10k in Warrington when he finished 49th out of more than 1,000 runners.

Sheila Jones also flew the flag for the club, coming home as first vet-60.

Emmerson clocked a fine 37mins 43secs and Jones ran 48:46.

More success followed for vet-40 Ian Hopkinson (58:39), who broke his personal best for 10k.

Rob Lister took a busman's holiday, fitting in two runs over the weekend during a trip to the South West.

After completing the Cheltenham parkrun in 20:39 on Saturday, he clocked 43:45 for the Torbay 10k in Torquay the following day.

Five members took to the fells in midweek for the Golf Ball Fell Race in Rossendale.

Ian Warrington was first home for the club and 44th out of a field of 151 after completing the 5.5 mile course, with 801 feet of climbing, in 49:14. He was also second in the Burrs Country Park 5k on Sunday, finishing in 19:56.

Kris Lee (V40) clocked 52:27, with Chris Paxton close on his heels in 52:55. Mark Wolfenden (V45) ran 1:01:52 and Bev McGrath (V50) 1:19:11.

The club's parkrun tourist Vince Ashton (V40) notched up another location at the South Manchester parkrun in Fallowfield, making it his 27th with a steady time of 27:30. He has now covered all the parkruns in Manchester and Greater Manchester.

Lee Turner was third in 22mins 42secs. Dipping her toe into racing Warrington's wife Debi took on the 2k event.
