RADCLIFFE AC's Donna Cartwright finished a fine 19th out of 104 women in the Red Rose League first cross country of the season at Leigh.

She was followed home by Kath Davies (V45) in 57th position, Eileen Royle, who was second vet-60, Rachael Stoney and Suzanne Andrew. The women were the 13th senior team and ninth veteran team. In the sunny conditions on Saturday, Dave Bartlett was first home for Radcliffe men out of 166 runners. He was followed by John Andrew, Ian West (V50), George Critchley (V55), Mauro Rotondi (V40), Andy Wheeler b(V55) and Mark Emmett (V50). The club were 11th vets team. The previous week Cartwright had taken part in the popular Fleetwood Triathlon, coming 142nd out of more than 300 competitors. Husband Mark, who was first home for the club, was 108th, John Young (V60) 289th and Kath Davies (V40) was the final Radcliffe finisher. The sprint triathlon included a 400m swim, 20k bike ride and 5k run. In the Swinton 10-Mile Road Race on Sunday, Tony Holt (V50) clocked 1hr 8mins 19secs putting him 64th out of 195 runners and Mark Williams 1:13:05, placing him 86th. Iain Harris ran the Preston 10k and despite congestion at the start due to a large field he clocked 1:1:50 on a testing course.
