DESPITE the rain in the run up to this Lancashire Amateur League Premier Division game, the Buckley Wells pitch held up nicely. The visitors took the lead with a penalty on 25 minutes, after a Rochdale player was adjudged to have been fouled in the area.
Bury rallied and within 10 minutes they had grabbed the equaliser when they broke on the counter. Spencer Woods played in Steven Wood, who scored with a side-footed shot inside the area on his return to the starting 11. Lewis Rowland put Bury ahead soon after when he effortlessly curled the ball into the bottom corner of the net from 18 yards out.
In the second half, Bury could have have put the game beyond Rochdale’s reach but they failed to take advantage of their opportunities. While Rochdale pressured Bury, they failed to threaten goalkeeper Chris Graham and Bury claimed all three points. On Saturday, the Old Boys are at home to Old Mancunians, kick off 2pm.
