ELTON’S outside chance of promotion from Division One of the Manchester League were dashed.
The Bury side had their chances in the first half hour with Gareth Gardiner going close and James Rawlinson’s shot saved at point-blank range.
Town went ahead before the interval and showed their league-leading form in the second half, increasing their lead with two more goals. A quick break from Elton put Matt Barnes beyond the Town defence to increase his tally for the season.
Vale piled on the pressure in the last 15 minutes but they were unable to reduce the arrears further.
Vale travel to Rochdael Sacred Heart on Tuesday.
