RADCLIFFE Borough’s four-game unbeaten league streak ended with a 2-0 defeat at Evo-Stik Division One North high-flyers Farsley last weekend.

Borough had won their previous three games in the division to hail themelves off the bottom of the table.

But they slipped back down to just one place and one point off the drop zone after the defeat in West Yorkshire.

It was always going to be a tough test for Kevin Glendon’s men, despite their good form, against a side riding high at the top end of the division.

And they fell behind after just eight minutes when Lee Ellington edged the hosts ahead.

Try as they might, Boro were second-best physically and Ellington doubled Farsley’s lead four minutes before half time.

It was always going to be a battle to get back into the game in the second half and the task was made more difficult for Boro when Josh Bardsley was sent off inside the first 10 minutes of the second period.

The young Boro side could not find a goal but the 10 men did prevent any more for the third-placed hosts.

Borough’s scheduled clash with Darlington 1883 on Tuesday was postponed due to the Quakers’ involvement in a county cup competition.

It means Glendon’s squad have had a full week to prepare for two games in three days against the current top two teams in the division.

They travel to Warrington Town on Saturday, before hosting new league leaders Curzon Ashton at Stainton Park on Monday, kick off 7.45pm.
