A JODY Banim hat-trick helped Radcliffe Borough on their way to a comfortable 4-0 win against bottom side New Mills in their most impressive display of the season.

The hosts went into the game on the back of some solid form, which had seen them push further away from the Evo-Stik First Division North relegation zone in recent weeks.

The visitors, on the other hand, journeyed to the Belvoir Stadium following a 9-0 home defeat by Spennymoor.

Jonathan Rand broke through for New Mills in the opening 15 minutes but could only fire his effort straight at Chris Cheetham, who produced a smart save.

Striker Jody Banim produced Radcliffe’s first real attempt of the match in the 30th minute, with a shot using the outside of his boot that Martin just managed to tip over the bar.

New Mills had the opportunity to take the lead three minutes before half time when Ryan Hibbert was put through one-on-one but his scuffed shot was put behind for a corner.

Radcliffe made them pay, taking the lead just before the break as Banim cut inside from the right flank and his low shot deflected into the bottom corner.

Banim doubled his tally five minutes into the second half when a defensive clearance rebounded off his chest into the back of the visitors net from five yards out.

Winger Elliot Rokka almost made it three just after the hour mark following a mazy solo run, beating three players before his shot was palmed away.

Radcliffe were rewarded with a third 20 minutes from time as Banim completed his hat-trick with a thunderous effort that went in off the crossbar.

Captain Rick Smith added a fourth after nodding in a rebound from close range after Banim’s free kick hit the crossbar.

This was without a doubt Radcliffe’s most commanding display of a very tough season as they dominated for the majority of the game and rightly got their reward.

Radcliffe are due to host Droylsden on Saturday and entertain Burscough on Tuesday after last weekend's game between the two sides was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
