RADCLIFFE Borough's inconsistent form was glaringly apparent in two away games this week as they battled back for a draw at Colne in the league before being thumped 6-2 at Buxton in the Integro League Cup on Tuesday night.

Bill Prendergast's young side have now won two, lost two and drawn one in November as the games continue to come thick and fast.

They showed great spirit to leave Colne with a point after twice coming from behind, Elliot Rokka scoring their second equaliser with four minutes remaining.

Although the result was overshadowed by a second sending off of the season for mercurial striker Abou Sanogo, who had scored a first-half equaliser but blotted his copy book after getting involved in a tussle off the ball with Colne substitute Jay Hart that saw both players shown a straight red.

Sanogo had the first chance of the game, dragging a shot wide after being put clean through by a neat pass from Jack Hindle.

The hosts quickly punished Boro as Spencer Jordan opened the deadlock in the 10th minute, making a late run into the box to connect with a well-timed header.

Colne look set to build on their goal, but Sanogo relieved the pressure in the 20th minute after finishing off a flowing counter attack with a fantastic left-footed finish into the bottom corner.

The hosts continued to dominate possession and really should have restored their lead in the 36th minute when Matty Beadle found himself one-on-one with Boro stopper Tadhg Ryan but the striker was off balance and his scuffed effort was well saved.

Raul Correia very nearly got Prendergast's men off to a flyer, but he was unable to keep his sliding effort down after latching on to a clever ball by Hindle.

Joel Melia and Chris Lynch missed chances for Colne before Hart finally put the home side back in front with a deflected shot in the 67th minute.

The goal sparked Boro into life and they almost equalised within a minute, only for home stopper Tony Aghayere to get down sharply to smother a powerful strike from Correia.

That looked to be it for the visitors as their fight waned in the closing stages before winger Rokka latched on to substitute Frank Van Gils' low ball into the box to produce a thunderous right-footed strike that crashed in off the underside of the bar.

Tempers boiled over as both teams went for the win, with Hart and Sanogo clashing off the ball.

Whether or not that late red card put a dampener on the result, Boro failed to get out of first gear in the League Cup at Buxton.

They went into the break 3-0 down, George Milner's goal on the stroke of half time effectively putting the game out of reach following earlier efforts from Jamie Jackson and Keegan Etherington.

Elliot Rokka's double after the restart, either side of fourth goal for Buxton from Bradley Grayson, gave the visitors some hope, but that was snuffed out by strikes from Fabrice Bembo-Leta and a second from Milner in the 76th and 79th minutes.
