RADCLIFFE FC's unbeaten league run was ended by Brighouse Town, who came from behind to win 3-2 at the Neuven Stadium on Saturday.

Captain Carl Peers scored twice before the break to put Boro 2-0 up, but the home side conceded three goals in the final 25 minutes to slump to their first defeat in seven matches in Evo-Stik North.

Aidan Kirby gave Boro a sign of things to come as early as the 14th minute, when his shot forced home stopper Kyle Haslam into a fine save.

But Jon Macken's men seized control of the game and went ahead on 25 minutes when Peers beat Brighouse defender Chris Butt to the ball to turn it home from close range.

James Hooper very nearly doubled the advantage, showing great skill to beat his man to open up a clear run on goal, but while his shot was saved Peers was on hand to turn in the rebound seven minutes before the break.

Boro's inability to extend their lead came back to haunt them when Thomas Haigh beat Haslam with a shot into the bottom corner to pull a goal back on 66 minutes.

The visitors levelled with 13 minutes remaining, Haigh getting in on the act again as his deflected shot gave Haslam no chance.

And the Brighouse comeback was complete on 82 minutes when Rhys Jenkinson found himself in acres of space, taking time to pick his spot for the winner.

A run of draw means Boro have now gone four games without a win in the league, but they remain 18th in the table after results elsewhere went in their favour.
