MARK Fell struggled to contain his excitement after unveiling long-time target Jason Hart as Ramsbottom United's fourth summer signing.

Rammy's joint manager revealed he had tried and failed to sign the former Colne frontman on numerous occasions at his previous club.

But after finally getting his man, Fell now cannot wait to get the 25-year-old on the training pitch.

"It’s no secret that I tried to sign Jay on more than one occasion for previous clubs, but for one reason or another the timing wasn’t right for either party," said Fell.

"I feel now we are getting a striker who is in great condition, looking to get to the next level by working hard and learning to improve his game further, I’m excited to be working with him.”

Hart was the leading scorer in the North West Counties Premier Division last season, firing in 34 goals for Colne following a summer move from Clitheroe.

The Accrington-based player was a key figure in Colne's promotion to the Evo-Stik League.

He said: "I’m excited to begin this new footballing challenge, working with new players, some highly qualified and experienced staff, a great team behind the scenes and an excellent fan base. I can’t wait to pull on a Ramsbottom shirt and contribute to a successful season.”

Hart joins fellow new signings Gareth Seddon, Sam Freakes and Chris Cheetham and is likely to make his debut in Rammy's trip to Nelson on Saturday, July 16.
