RAMSBOTTOM United this week made former Accrington Stanley forward Nathan Webb their third new signing of the summer.

The 19-year-old playmaker, who is most commonly used in an advanced midfield role but can also play on either flank or as a striker, had a brief loan spell with the Rams last season and joined his new team-mates for the start of pre-season on Saturday.

“Webby is a magician with the ball, he’s a great talent who will undoubtedly unlock defences in this division,” said manager Mark Fell.

“He’s the sort of player who will benefit from playing a season at this level, he will be adjusting elements of his game to meet the rigours of Evo-Stik football and that will stand him in good stead to progress.”

The Rams added striker Greg Daniels and midfielder Eddie Moran last week, and also re-signed forward Max Hazeldine. And Fell hinted there could be more new faces arriving at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium this week.

“We’ve purposely not released much information as there has been at least two high-profile cases of players committing to a club in this league then going somewhere else,” said the Rammy boss. “So to that end we’ve sat on a lot of signings until this week.

“We’ve worked round the clock to get the targets I’ve wanted and I’m delighted with our progress in recruitment.”

Webb made his professional debut for Stanley last season in the Checkatrade Trophy against Crewe and was a major part of the youth side that knocked West Ham out of the FA Youth Cup the season before.

He will get the chance to play against his former employers when Rammy host Stanley in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday, July 11.
