MAN-of-the-match Danny Mayor has his fingers crossed Bury’s bad run of results is now well and truly behind them after his second goal in as many games secured back-to-back victories.
The 24-year-old winger sealed the points in a 2-0 win at home to Mansfield yesterday, rifling the ball into the bottom corner in the 78th-minute to add to Ryan Lowe’s first-half opener.
It followed a superb strike at Northampton on Boxing Day that helped set up a 3-2 victory – Bury’s first in nine matches.
“I am happy to get on the scoresheet, but the main thing is that we are back on track and winning games again,” he said.
“Nothing much has changed really. We stayed positive, we had a sticky patch, which I think every club is going to go through.
“Hopefully, we have had ours now and we can keep on extending this winning run.”
Manager David Flitcroft confirmed after the game that the loan deal for Bolton Wanderers defender Hayden White was now effectively over after they were unable to launch an appeal against his straight red card for fighting picked up at Northampton.
The subsequent four-match ban took him past the end of his two-month loan deal, which was due to finish after Saturday’s game at Dagenham & Redbridge.
