BURY’S claim to a place in the League Two promotion frame was put under further pressure by big-spending rivals Fleetwood Town at Highbury.
The Shakers were sunk by two great second-half strikes after a well-worked Tom Soares goal gave them the lead against the run of play in the 28th minute.
Antoni Sarcevic levelled for the home side with an unstoppable volley from 30 yards seven minutes after the break.
And the midfielder was on hand to knock down the ball for Gareth Evans to sidefoot home Fleetwood’s winner on 63 minutes.
Fleetwood's deserved victory opened up an eight-point gap over Bury, who sank down to 17th after their fourth defeat in seven games, while the hosts moved into the automatic promotion places.
