BURY let a two-goal lead slip as they returned to the bottom of League One.
The Shakers were leading Greater Manchester rivals Oldham 2-0 after 31 minutes at Gigg Lane on Saturday before the visitors hit back.
Former Bolton Wanderers striker Craig Davies pulled one back three minutes before the interval, and Ben Pringle scored the equaliser on 77 minutes.
Bury will rue two points dropped after being 2-0 up, thanks to goals from Jay O'Shea on 14 minutes and Neil Danns on 31.
But the draw extended their run to one defeat in eight league games since Ryan Lowe took over as caretaker manager.
Nine points separate the Shakers from fifth-bottom spot and safety after results elsewhere did not favour them.
Of the five sides immediately above them who played, two of them won and three drew.
