DAVE McNabb wants to make sure Bury are not just a ‘fair weather team’ following the superb 7-0 win at Barnoldswick Town last weekend.

The Shakers boss said it was a near ‘complete performance’ at the Silentnight Stadium but says it will count for nothing if they can’t back it up at fifth-placed Chadderton on Saturday.

“They are very good side, they have had a really good start and are in and around the play-offs so again it is going to be another tough game,” McNabb told the club website.

“But we have got to go and apply ourselves like we did (against Barnoldswick). I don’t want us to be a side that turns up and be a fair weather team where you can win a game 7-0 and drop points next week.

“We have got to be really clinical in both boxes and I have got desires to go and win again.”

Sajjid Elhassan (2), Benito Lowe, Connor Comber, Lewis Gilboy and Jimmy Moore were all on target for the NWCL Premier Division leaders at Barlick with an own goal completing the scoring.

“I was really pleased with the performance and the result,” added McNabb who gave a debut to new signing Jordan Butterworth. “I think we showed little glimpses of that (against Litherland REMYCA), little bits and pieces in the two games before but (Barnoldswick) was more of a complete performance.

“I think we started to see a bit of style of play and a little bit of what we have been trying to teach the lads in training so overall really pleased.

“ I still think we can do better but really happy with it.”

n A young Bury side were beaten 2-1 by Glossop North End in the first round of the Manchester Premier Cup, Mason Beard on target for the Shakers.
