Harry Brockbank is keen to help Bury in their promotion push after joining the Shakers on loan from Radcliffe.

Brockbank made his debut during the 2-2 draw against Burscough at Gigg Lane on Saturday afternoon.

The defender played 71 minutes before making way for Ollie Kilner and nearly got on the scoresheet at one stage, sending a strike just over the bar from 20 yards.

“Obviously, it’s a massive football club trying to get back to where it should be,” he said.

“All the fans are turning out week in, week out and getting loads on. It is a great stadium and I thought why not?”

Brockbank added: “Coming here feels like I’m still at Radcliffe – a big club, doing well and flying high. Hopefully, today was just a blip and we can bounce back on Tuesday.”

The 25-year-old returned to the North West last month following a spell in the League of Ireland with St Patrick’s Athletic.

Andy Briggs and Dec Daniels were both on target against Burscough but Dave McNabb’s side couldn’t quite hold on to secure the three points.

“I thought first half, we were really poor,” Brockbank continued. “We came out second half and looked like we were the better team for the first 25 minutes.

“Obviously, we went 2-0 up and unfortunately when we missed a penalty, I thought it just swing things a little bit.

“I still thought we had the better of the game and probably should have put them to bed but when you don’t take your chances, that is what happens at the other end.”

The former Bolton defender came off with a slight injury concern but is hopeful that it is nothing serious.

“I just felt a little pull on my calf,” he explained. “The manager said it was better to not risk it and bring me off. Hopefully, it is nothing too bad.”

Bury are back in league action on Tuesday night when they head to Park Road to take on Cheadle Town (7.45pm).

The Shakers currently sit second in the Northern Premier League top flight and have three games in hand on leaders Wythenshawe Town heading into the business end of the campaign.
