MOVE over Robbie Keane and Jermain Defoe . . . Bury have got Ryan Lowe and Kudus Oyenuga.

They may not be seasoned internationals, but 18-year-old Oyenuga, who has joined the Shakers on a one-month loan deal from Spurs, is confident he can hit the goal trail alongside prolific marksman Lowe – starting at Wycombe tomorrow.

“I am a fast and strong striker who likes to dribble with the ball, hopefully a bit like Jermain Defoe,” Oyenuga said when pressed for an appraisal of his abilities. “I like to think I am pretty direct.

“I am really happy to be here at Bury. As soon as I got here I could tell it is a real family club and I was really impressed with what I saw from the bench on Tuesday (when Bury beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1).

“Lowey looks a good player, he reminds me of Robbie Keane a little bit. He is somebody I can learn from. Damien Mozika impressed me too, but right across the pitch it is a competitive team.”

Oyenuga will be cheered on by family and friends should he get on to the pitch at Adams Park tomorrow, and the teenager is looking forward to making an impression on the Football League after a brief spell on loan to Finnish side MyPa earlier this year.

“I see it as a good opportunity to come here and show people what I have got,” said the striker, who is coached by Les Ferdinand at White Hart Lane. “When I heard Bury were interested in me I was really excited because, at my age, it is great to get the chance to play in the league.

“I must admit I didn’t know where Bury was - I thought it was one or two hours away from London - but I am pleased to be here.

“I am only here for a month but, if I work hard and impress the manager, maybe I can stay longer.

“I have played for the Spurs youth team and in the reserves, but it is nice to get out and play in the league. This is proper football now. I am looking forward to seeing how I cope against big men and players who are more competitive.”

Bury manager Richie Barker is looking forward to seeing his new boy in action and, if first impressions are anything to go by, he will fit seamlessly into the tight-knit dressing room at Gigg Lane.

“I don’t know loads about Kudus, other than the fact lots of people have told me lots about him,” said Barker. “When he came through the door, I have never met a more polite young man in all my life.

“He was very complimentary about the club and I think this is going to be one hell of an experience for him as an 18-year-old.

“Kudus should have been flying out to Basle this week to play in the Under-19s European Champions League and when I rang him about coming here he wanted to set off within 15 minutes.

“Everybody at Spurs thinks it is a great chance for him and I am delighted to have such a fantastic young man at the club.”

Bury will give late fitness tests to Mark Cullen (hamstring), Damien Mozika (calf) and David Worrall (foot) before naming their side that takes on Wanderers.
