Motorists are enduring traffic chaos around Ramsbottom after a lorry overturned on the M66.
The motorway was closed northbound from Junction one at Ramsbottom to the A56 at Edenfield, which reports of two hour delays.
Firefighters from Bury and Ramsbottom stations freed the 60-year-old lorry driver who was conscious and breathing, but trapped inside.
The driver was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital.
The incident also had a knock on effect, causing heavy traffic in the centre of Bury and in Whitefield in Manchester Road.
Earlier this morning one lane of the M66 was blocked northbound between Junction one and two after a tree fell onto the carriageway.
